The Team

Richard Llewellyn-Bell

Richard is our Director of Legal Services responsible for delivering high quality, fixed fee employment law advice and HR support to businesses throughout the UK.

He set up Bell Taylor in 2013 as a specialist employment law consultancy for employers with a strong focus on building close professional ties with clients through understanding their needs and providing pragmatic solutions. Recognising that there is a big difference between employment law theory and practice, Richard is commended by clients for providing commercial, no-nonsense, and reassuring advice – keeping clients on the right side of the law whilst maintaining their commercial objectives.

 

He has developed a specialist experience in advising SME businesses with expertise across a broad range of industry sectors throughout the UK including charities, construction, recruitment, manufacturing, care homes, nurseries, hospitality, NHS and pharmacies.

Robert is our Principal HR Consultant and responsible for all HR Consultancy and HR Training. He’s a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), with over 12 years’ senior level experience in Human Resources.

 

He is an experienced, reliable, pragmatic HR professional with excellent employee relations, dispute resolution and performance management skills.

 

Here’s just a snippet of his experience:

 

HR Policy / Strategy / Training

  • Leading HR policy design and development, improving understanding of organisational expectations resulting in reduction of disciplinary and capability issues.
  • Successfully delivers HR training courses allowing managers to deal with issues quickly and efficiently and with increased confidence, increasing capability and minimising legal risk.
  • Manages employee opinion surveys, formulates and monitors action plans in relation to the results and improves year on year scores as a result of the activities proposed and undertaken.

 

Employee Relations

  • Conducted numerous investigations on behalf of organisations to determine the progression of capability or disciplinary issues, saving time and maintaining workplace relations, using pragmatism, communication and organisational knowledge to best effect.
  • Identified and implemented revised organisational structures and methods ensuring compliance with employment law and improved performance, resulting in no staff grievances.

 

Performance Management

  • Designed and implemented an organisational Performance Improvement Plan process, helping managers deal with issues of poor staff performance fairly, legally and efficiently, resulting in improved business performance.
  • Designed, implemented and managed a programme of business coaching bringing about improved staff performance and motivation with tangible business results.

Robert Downing

Ann Pemberton

Ann is our Principal Training Consultant responsible for delivering coaching and mentoring support to our business clients including Leadership and Team Development, Behavioural Assessment and Performance Management.

 

As well as being a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), she is accredited to use a range of psychometric instruments including MBTI (Steps I and 2), SDI, Thomas International PPA (formerly known as DISC), OPQ and is a Member of the British Psychological Society.  This gives her unparalleled access to a wide range of assessment and development tools and instruments.

 

Ann’s wealth of experience in the learning consultancy, training design and delivery arena stems from a training background gained in both the financial services and construction industries.  Her ethos is all about building excellent and long term relationships with her clients, really understanding their business needs and helping her learning audience to be enthusiastic and committed to developing their skills and abilities.

 

Ann has worked predominantly in the construction, and oil and gas sectors, building up a wealth of knowledge within these particular industries.  This has since progressed into the engineering, manufacturing and logistics sectors, together with pockets of voluntary work within the charitable sector.

 

Ann’s style is upbeat, enthusiastic and she has a facilitative approach to her training.  She’s not afraid to question and challenge as she believes this can help people explore options and help them make informed choices about the behaviours and styles they choose to adopt.  She is very supportive and always promotes a ‘risk-free’ training environment in which participants can trial and practice new ideas, as well as enjoy the learning experience.

Gary Hewitt

Gary is our Director of Health & Safety and has extensive experience in supporting employers with the health, safety and environmental requirements.

Gary has been heavily involved in health, safety and environmental management systems since 1989 and is registered on the HSE Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register, is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and is accredited to deliver CIEH, IOSH and CITB Site Safety Plus training courses.

The Health & Safety team provide a variety of services to ensure employers across the UK are compliant. These include a fixed period/fixed fee service; consultancy services such as site surveys, audits, methods statements and risk assessments; and tailored accredited training. In addition they have the experience and expertise to assist in gaining and/or maintaining ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001
